What is L-Glutamine?
L-Glutamine, sometimes shortened to glutamine, is one of the amino acids our bodies create that is essential for making protein. It’s stored in our muscles and lungs, and makes up 67% of our tissue, and comprises approximately 60% of the amino acids in our bodies. While we do a good job of making glutamine on our own, in times of stress, injury, or simply when we’re pushing ourselves with a new training routine, or intense exercise, our glutamine levels can drop, leading to weakened immunity, drowsiness, and an inability to focus. Taking L-Glutamine helps boost your immune system through muscular detoxification, and by fighting free radicals. It supports brain function, improves gut health, and is highly beneficial for people who are immunocompromised. It removes excess waste and toxins (like ammonia) from our systems, accelerates muscle repair, and helps reduce inflammation. If you’re someone who really enjoys pushing your limits during physical activity, your glutamine levels are likely low and taking L-Glutamine as an absolute must!
Did You Know?
When your body is stressed it releases a hormone called cortisol into your bloodstream. This tends to reduce the amount of stored glutamine in your system weakening your immunity and making you more susceptible to illness and drowsiness. Taking L-Glutamine will help restore your glutamine levels and assist in fighting off ailments.
L-Glutamine is sometimes used to help treat recovery from severe burns or skin-wounds.
L-Glutamine can help people who suffer from anxiety, or individuals who have intense sugar or alcohol cravings.
Why Supplementing with L-Glutamine is Essential
Energy production - L-Glutamine helps in the metabolization of food into glucose that fuels our body. When glucose stores get low (hypoglycemia), L-Glutamine stores are synthesized by the liver for the formation more glucose. If L-Glutamine levels drop, then the body will start breaking down lean muscle tissue to get the fuel it needs to function and start the repair and recovery process.
Nutrient absorption and Waste Removal - L-Glutamine may play a significant role in retaining the permeability of intestinal tissues to increase nutrient absorption. It can also help in the neutralization and elimination of cramp and fatigue causing toxins and cleansing the liver of the waste products that can prevent fatty build-up.
Nitrogen Balance - Achieving a positive nitrogen balance indicates that your body has retained adequate protein stores to provide sufficient functional energy needed to maintain your metabolism. Since the amino acids derived from proteins are the only source of dietary nitrogen, it is important to consume and retain adequate amounts.. and L-Glutamine can contribute up to 30% of that nitrogen transported to cells. If your nitrogen levels fall below the balance point, you're are not retaining enough protein. At this point, your body will start to consume muscle tissue to stabilize your metabolism. This can contribute to lethargy, illness, and loss of mental focus.
Suggested Use: Shake or mix 1 serving as needed into your favorite beverage until completely dissolved
My wife and I have used this product for 15 years and would not use any brand. I add to my oatmeal, with Whey Protein. We also use it drink after all our workouts. JBN keep doing it right.
I'm leaving two reviews today and this is my second cause it's such a fav item - vanilla L-glutamine. How come I'm using a product that's flavored? Why not be a grown-up and grimace when I take my glutamine? Cuz this tastes AMAZING, which = versatility, which = better quality of life. I can use it to flavor a smoothie, on rope of protein pancakes like powdered sugar, in recipes or in a glass of water. Enjoy you recovery.
This product has helped give me additional energy and enhances my immunity. My favorite part about this product is that I can have it anytime of the day and I can mix it with my other supplements.
